A computer code package for oversized waveguides is developed at IPF. It supports different waveguide types:
  • Smooth wall with rectangular cross section
  • Smooth wall with cylindrical cross section
  • Corrugated wall with square cross section
  • Corrugated wall with cylindrical cross section
A large number of modules are avaliable for:
  • Expansion of arbitrary (analytical or numerical) field patterns into waveguide modes
  • Propagation of mode spectra in waveguides and calculation of the resulting fields at arbitrary locations
  • Calculation of mode conversions due to diameter variation with a scattering matrix algorithm
  • Calculation of mode conversion due to curvature and diameter variation with an optimized coupled mode equation method.
  • Optimization of geometries for tapers, mode converters, horn antennas and bends
  • Analytical calculation of resulting far-field patterns from waveguide mode spectra
  • Fast calculation of overlap integrals
The modular design of the code allows it to be used for a large number of design and optimization tasks. Possible applications range from low-power systems for plasma diagnostics to MW level ECRH facilities.
